RTI activist wants thorough scrutiny of MMRDA

Staff reporter

Mumbai: A Right to Information activist on Monday submitted an affidavit to the Adarsh enquiry commission, requesting it to scrutinise the role of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority in the granting of the certificates of commencement and occupancy to the tainted society. The affidavit (a copy of which is with The Hindu), filed by Anil Galgali, stated that the MMRDA was completely responsible for the granting of land and the subsequent construction of the Adarsh housing society.

It requested the commission to thoroughly enquire into the roles of State Chief Secretary Ratnakar Gaikwad, the former Chief Information Commissioner, Suresh Joshi and T. Chandrashekhar — who had signed the Commencement Certificate as the commissioners of MMRDA. It has also named MMRDA's Additional Metropolitan Commissioner S.V.R Srinivas, who signed the occupancy certificate, and that his role too be investigated.
