Voicing protest: CPI cadre staging a demonstration in front of the Tirupur Corporation office on Thursday demanding that the State Government come out with a permanent solution to the closure of dyeing units.

Tirupur: The Communist Party of India members staged a demonstration here on Thursday demanding that the State government come out with a solution to end the imbroglio experienced in the dyeing segment of the Tirupur knitwear cluster.

CPI district secretary M. Ravi blamed the State government for not coming forward with any creative solution to help the dyers treat the industrial effluents in a cost-effective manner.

“The government did not show interest to explore the possibilities put forward by sections of society to solve the problem,” he said. The solution to end the crisis in the dyeing industry, according to Mr. Ravi, should incorporate the interests of industrialists as well as farmers situated alongside River Noyyal.
