Two child workers rescued from textile units

Tirupur: A special team constituted by the District Collector, C. Samayamoorthy, rescued two child workers from as many textile units here on Thursday evening.

The team comprising officials from National Child Labour Project (NCLP), Inspectorate of Factories, and departments of revenue, labour and health rescued M. Ananthi (13) and S. Kumar (12) from units situated at K.V.R. Nagar. NCLP Project Director D. Vijayakumar told reporters that raids were conducted in five textile units, and 34 shops and establishments situated in K.V. R. Nagar and alongside Kumaran road and Tirupur-Avinashi road. He said that the girl would be enrolled into mainstream education while the boy would be rehabilitated at the special school run by NCLP at K.V.R. Nagar.
