KOTTAYAM: Kerala Congress(B) leader R. Balakrishna Pillai called on Nair Service Society (NSS) leaders on Thursday evening. Mr. Balakrishna Pillai, who has been sentenced to one-year rigorous imprisonment in the Idamalayar corruption case, was on his way to Kochi from his residence at Kottarakara when he called on the leaders at the NSS headquarters at Perunna, near Changanassery. Mr. Balakrishna Pillai, who was accompanied by scores of party activists, was huddled together with the NSS leaders for nearly 15 minutes before they spoke to the media. ‘Unfortunate verdict' Speaking to mediapersons, NSS general secretary P.K. Narayana Panicker and secretary G. Sukumaran Nair said the verdict was unfortunate and hoped that he would be able to prove his innocence in a review petition. Mr. Balakrishna Pillai said he was here to offer floral tributes at the Samadhi of Mannathu Padmanabhan and be with the NSS, which he considered his parent organisation. K.B. Ganesh Kumar, MLA and so on Mr. Pillai, Kodikunnil Suresh, MP, and a host of leaders accompanied Mr. Balakrishna Pillai on his way to Kochi. He is expected to court arrest in Kochi on Friday.
