Adhere to rules while releasing advertisements, local bodies told
Staff Reporter
KRISHNAGIRI: The three-tier local body system, that is, district panchayat, panchayat unions, and village panchayats should adhere to rules and regulations while releasing advertisements about their achievements, Collector V. Arun Roy said here recently.
A release issued by the Collector said that the government had issued guidelines regarding insertion of the names of people's representatives such as MPs and MLAs in advertisements. It was brought to the notice of the district administration that many local bodies had not been following the guidelines.
Many advertisements had been released without the permission of the Collector and at times the advertisements carried the name of the Collector.
The district administration was compelled to answer the unnecessary queries of the people's representatives regarding such advertisements, which also cost additional financial burden on the exchequer.
The district administration advised the local bodies to stop releasing advertisements on their own. They could release advertisements with permission from the Collector, the release added.
