UTHANGARAI: More than 300 members of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA), and Students Federation of India (SFI), staged a demonstration in front of the Uthangarai taluk office in Krishangiri district on Friday seeking the arrest of the accused in the murder of G. Kanakalakshmi (20), a college student, on January 21.
The girl's body was found in a mango orchard in her native village Kondampatti on January 22.

Special teams formed to investigate the case had been withdrawn, she said.
K. Jothilakshmi, State vice-president, AIDWA, C. James Anjela Mary, district secretary, AIDWA, L. Aswathnarayanan, district secretary, DYFI, S. Suresh Kumar, district secretary, SFI, K. Mahalingam, district secretary, CITU District Construction Workers Union, and V. Govindasamy, taluk secretary, CPI (M), spoke.
