‘Extend incentive for garments exports to US'

Tirupur: The knitwear exporters here have called upon the Central government to extend the ambit of the incentive offered under the Market Linked Focus Product Scheme (MLFPS) for the exports of knitwear garments to the United States also.

“Considering the immense functional problems and global competitions faced by the apparel industry in Tirupur, the government should extend the incentive at two per cent of the Free-on-Board (FoB) value for exports to the US for one year,” said A. Sakthivel, president of Tirupur Exporters Association.
Announcement
A few days ago, the Union Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma announced in New Delhi the extension of FoB incentives under the scheme to 335 new products for exports to 15 markets including Egypt, Kenya, South Africa, Brazil, Australia, Japan, and China.
Welcome
The exporters by and large welcomed the incentives announced by Mr. Sharma.
