Staff Reporter

ADILABAD: Various employee organisations in Adilabad district on Friday condemned the attack on Collector P. Venkateswarlu and Utnoor ITDA Project Officer K. Veeramallu during a protest by members of primitive tribes on February 17. They appealed to the general public not to resort to physical assaults on officers as it could lead to stifling of development process in the backward district. Addressing a press conference, K. Satyanarayana, district president of Telangana Gazetted Officers Association, G. Shiv Kumar, president of Telangana Revenue Services Association, M. Mohan Rao, president of Telangana Agriculture Officers Association, M. Rajeshwar Reddy, chairman of the JAC of Employees, Teachers and Workers, Bhumaiah, president of Telangana Panchayat Raj Officers Association, and Neelkanth, president of AP Treasury Services Association, said pelting of stones on top officers by agitators is unwarranted.

The officers had gone to Utnoor to find out a way to address the demands of the tribals, they added.

Meanwhile, a partial bandh was observed in tribal mandals during the day.

The call was given by tribal organisations demanding cancellation of DSC counselling for teacher posts in Agency areas and transfer of Joint Collector Samuel Anand Kumar.
