Chamarajanagar: Deputy Commissioner K. Amaranarayan has said that a chariot carrying the portrait of goddess Bhuvaneshwari will be taken across the State from March 6 to 9 to publicise the World Kannada Meet to be held in Belgaum from March 11 to 13.

He said it was aimed at creating awareness among the people on the need to participate in large numbers in the World Kannada Meet.

The chariot will be flagged off at M.M. Hills on March 6 at 8.30 a.m. It will reach Chamarajanagar the next day via Hanur and Kollegal.

The chariot, accompanied by folk artistes and Kannada activists will reach Gundlupet on March 8 and from there proceed to Belgaum.

Mr. Amaranarayan has appealed to the people of the Chamarajanagar district to welcome ‘Kannada teru' with warmth.
