Congress bags top posts in Karwar TP

Nagaveni Mahadev Pavaskar is elected president

Sanabayi Gowda is vice-president


Karwar: The Congress has bagged the posts of president and vice-president of Karwar Taluk Panchayat. It was for the first time in 20 years that the supporters of Anand Asnotikar could not capture power.

Nagaveni Mahadev Pavaskar of Congress was elected president of taluk panchayat while Sanabayi Gowda was elected vice-president. The outgoing taluk panchayat was headed by the BJP. Although the Congress had won five seats, it was short of one seat to get a majority. The Congress leaders on Thursday were able to get the support of Sanabayi Gowda . With her support, the Congress bagged the president's post.
