IAS Officers' Association plea to Orissa

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The IAS Officers' Association, A.P. Branch, has urged the Orissa government to take all steps to rescue and release Malkanjgiri District Collector Vineel Krishna, who has been abducted by Maoists.

In a representation sent to Orissa Chief Secretary B.R. Meena, honorary secretary of the association, expressed anguish over the abduction.

He said the fact that Mr. Krishna, working in such a remote district, took steps to check the reach of government programmes shows his exemplary sincerity and sensitivity to the job.

“ We all from Andhra Pradesh salute such dedication. The people of Malkanjgiri district will definitely be indebted to such a kind of Collector forever”, he observed.

The association extended support to the family members of Mr. Krishna.

Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday spoke to Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on telephone and appealed to him to take all necessary steps to secure the release of Mr. Krishna.
