DMDK for action on cash for vote

PUDUKOTTAI: The district unit of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) has urged the Election Commission to take stern action against any attempt to bribe people for garnering votes.
A resolution adopted at a meeting held to mark the party's anniversary here recently, said voters should be allowed to exercise their franchise on free and fair means. The Election Commission should evolve a strict strategy to eliminate corrupt systems prevailing in any quarters.
The resolution also wanted more additional polling booths to be set up for facilitating the free exercise of polling rights without fear or favour.
The meeting, through another resolution, said the district unit of the party would construct a memorial pillar at Kodiyakarai at Ammapattinam near Manalmelkudi, where the ‘asthi' (ashes) of the late Chief Minister Kamaraj was brought and immersed into it.
Resolutions urging the Centre government to set up additional hoardings, ceiling fans and other ventilation facilitates shortly, in the city were also adopted on the occasion.
