Two students arrested
CHENNAI: The Teynampet police arrested two college students who allegedly created a ruckus in an MTC bus and assaulted the conductor on Thursday.
Police sources said, Vinod Kumar (19) of T. Nagar and Vimal (20) of Manappakkam, both studying in a college on Poonamallee High Road, had boarded an MTC bus on route No. 29 B from Saidapet. They refused to buy tickets and travelled on the footboard. When the conductor questioned them, they assaulted him. The bus was then on G. N. Chetty Road, sources said.
Irked by their behaviour, some commuters on the bus beat them up and handed them to the Teynampet police, who later arrested them.
