No power cut for domestic, industrial connections Separate distribution lines for domestic, farm connections VIJAYAWADA: The Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (SPDCL) has announced a two-hour power cut for agriculture connections in the ensuing summer season. At present, the SPDCL is supplying seven hours of power to agriculture connections. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, SPDCL Chairman and Managing Director Varanasi Krishna Murthy said that power to agriculture connections would be provided in two and three hours spells in the morning and evening. However, there would be no power cut to domestic and industrial connections. Pilot project There would be no power cut in municipal corporations, municipalities and mandal headquarters during summer season, he said. Mr. Krishna Murthy said that the Government was contemplating erecting separate distribution lines for domestic and agricultural connections shortly. The pilot project would be implemented in Penamaluru mandal in the district. The Government would spend Rs.700 crore to erect separate lines for domestic and agricultural connections in the State. Sub-stations As many 124 sub-stations would be constructed across the State to meet the growing demand. The Government would also spend Rs.125 crore to replace big transformers with smaller ones for providing power supply to agricultural connections, he added.
