APDDCF hikes milk prices
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD: Citing increase in procurement price of milk payable to dairy farmers and also increase in production costs, the Andhra Pradesh Dairy Development Cooperative Federation (APDDCF) has hiked the prices of milk in the city by Re. 1 per litre. The hike is effective from February 21. The price of toned milk in one-litre pack will be now Rs.26 and half-litre pack, Rs.13 as against Rs.25 and Rs.12.50.
The revised rates are effective from February 21 on cash sales and new cards purchased w.e.f. March 1 for supplies effecting from March 11. However, consumers who have purchased advance milk cards for the month of February for supplies till March 10 will get milk at pre-revised rate.
Cheapest
In a statement issued here on Saturday, the APDDCF said all leading dairies had increased the sale price of their milk in the city by Rs.2 per litre from December last year due to increase in procurement price and increase in production costs.
Due to the same rising costs, the APDDCF is compelled to increase the sale price but even after enhancement, ‘Vijaya' milk will be cheapest among the leading brands, it added.
