SALEM: A 12-year-old girl was drowned and two others were rescued by the villagers from an irrigation well at Puliankurichi village, in Gengavalli union, on Sunday evening. Police sources said that Aarthi, daughter of Chinnusamy, who was studying seventh standard in the local school and her two friends Kokila (12) and Manimozhi (11), were bathing in the well when the incident took place. While taking bath, Aarthi reportedly slipped and fell into the well. Rescued Neighbours rushed to the well and saved the other two. The body of Aarthi was fished out late in the night by the Fire Service personnel.
