Man set afire

Namakkal: Nallayan (65), a head load worker of Periyapatti Arunthathiyaer Colony, was set on fire near the godown where he was employed on Monday.

Police said that the victim was having lunch near his godown on the Namakkal main road when Shajahan of Namakkal poured petrol on him and set him on fire before anyone could realise what was happening.

Namakkal Town Police rushed to the spot and rescued him. He is undergoing treatment at the Namakkal government hospital. Doctors said that he sustained 90 per cent burns and added that his condition was critical. Police arrested the accused and are questioning him.
