AMCOSA's gesture

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Andhra Medical College Old Students Association (AMCOSA) donated Rs. 8 lakhs to the college for air-conditioning its Dr. B.R. Ambedkar auditorium. AMCOSA president R. Sashiprabha handed over the cheque for the amount to Principal of AMC G. Bhagya Rao. Founder president of AMCOSA S.V. Adinarayana Rao, secretary K. Ramamurthy, vice-president P. Visweswara Rao and treasurer S.K.E. Appa Rao and AMC Vice-Principal K. Venkateswarlu were present.

The Ambedkar auditorium, behind the Panagal building on the college campus, was constructed nearly 20 years ago but was not in use for the last few years as it needed refurbishment, Dr. Bhagya Rao said. Civil and electrical work was started with a Rs. 26 lakhs donation from the Visakhapatnam Port Trust and the Rs. 8 lakhs donated by AMCOSA would provide air-conditioning facility. AMC was the only medical college in the State without a functioning auditorium and it would have the facility soon, thanks to the donations from the VPT and AMCOSA, he said.
