VISAKHAPATNAM: Notwithstanding the presence of around 40 aponline centres, their utility in accepting property tax payment is not fully available to the municipal corporation. While the municipal corporation says the property, water and vacant land taxes, trade and building licences can be paid at the aponline centres, their capacity to accept is limited to the amount of security deposit the franchisees have with aponline. Thus there is always a possibility of tax-payers not getting an opportunity to pay at the centres if they reached their limit. With dilemma over property tax persisting and tax payments being sluggish until recently, the corporation is displaying banners at the aponline centres on payments being accepted there. In comparison to the 17 e-seva centres and five bank branches, the 40 aponline centres are spread over the stretch of the city from Chinamushidivada to Old Dairy Farm and Aganampudi. However, a user charge of Rs.5 is collected at the aponline centres. But it saves the trouble of going to e-seva centres for payment. At a meeting on Monday with GVMC Additional Commissioner (Finance) P. Purnachandra Rao and Projects K. Ramesh the aponline franchisees brought the problems to their notice. The two have asked them to increase their security deposit limit as it would result in more transactions to them. They also assured their intervention if required with the higher authorities of aponline.
