HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti Legislature Party has announced its resolve to obstruct the proceedings in the Assembly till the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance fulfils its promise of carving a separate Telangana State. TRS floor leader E. Rajender and member K. Taraka Rama Rao, at a press conference on Monday, reiterated that they would not allow the Assembly to function till the aspirations of the people were fulfilled initiating concrete steps towards formation of a separate State. The TRS as well as the people had been agitating to mount pressure on the Congress to pass a resolution on separate Telangana in the State Assembly. The ‘chalo Assembly' organised by the students, non-cooperation launched by lakhs of employees of Telangana and the stir by advocates were part of the agitation. The government, however, adopted repressive measures using the police force. This was evident from the arrest of advocates on Sunday midnight and the ‘brutal' lathi-charge on students who were staging ‘chalo Assembly'. CPI(M) charge CPI (M) MLA J. Ranga Reddy accused the Treasury Benches of failing to ensure smooth conduct of the proceedings to enable debates on important issues facing the people. The ruling party was “deliberately adjourning the proceedings to cover up its inefficiency in dealing with the members.” The stalemate, according to him, could be attributed to the indecisiveness of the Congress.
