CHENNAI: The scheme to conduct master health check-up at a subsidised rate of Rs.500 will be introduced in the Chennai Corporation's five diagnostic laboratories on March 1, Mayor M. Subramanian said here on Monday. He announced this at a function to lay the foundation stone for construction of Zone 9 office in Saidapet. The master health check-up would comprise 19 investigations, including blood test, liver function test, X-ray, ECG, uric acid and total cholesterol. The facility would be available at the laboratories in Valluvar Kottam, Saidapet, EVR Salai, Perambur and Thiruvanmiyur. The scheme was one of the announcements made during the presentation of the 2011-12 budget. On the new building for zone-9 office, he said the building with three floors would be constructed at a cost of Rs.9.60 crore. Spread over an area of 5,125 sq.ft., it would have rooms for various departments and conference hall. The project is expected to be completed in 18 months. Similar projects to construct new office buildings in Zone 2 (Pulianthope), Zone 5 (Anna Nagar) and zone 10 (Adyar) are under progress. Work on the zone 2 office building, being constructed at a cost of Rs.9.30 lakh, would be completed in 10 days and inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister M. K. Stalin. Work at zone 5 office building would get over in a month. The project to construct additional buildings for Zone 10 office would also be completed in 10 days. The restoration work of Victoria Public Hall would be finished in two or three months, a release said.
