Kochi: The High Court on Tuesday dismissed a writ petition seeking a CBI probe into the Sub-inspector recruitment scam. Justice Thomas P. Joseph, while dismissing the petition filed by Dinil of Cherthala and another person, said that no circumstances warranting a CBI probe had been brought out. The government pleader submitted that the investigation by the police was in the right direction. In view of the forthcoming elections, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, who was investigating the case, had to be shifted out of Kollam. He said that the DYSP could be brought back after the election. The court said that the officer should be appointed in Kollam after the elections. The officer who succeeded him could continue with the probe in the interregnum, the court said. The petitioner alleged that a proper investigation could not be carried out by the police since there were differences of opinion between the police and the Vigilance wing of the Public Service Commission. Petition filed A writ petition was filed in the court seeking restrictions on reporting of court proceedings and oral observations in visual and print media. The petition was filed by Venjaramoodu M. Ziyad, a lawyer. He sought a directive to frame rules relating to reporting of court proceedings. The petition also sought a directive to the police not to present an accused in a crime before the media. The petitioner also pleaded that the publication or broadcast of a statement, interview or discussion affecting the credibility of the judicial system be banned. Bail granted Justice V. Ramkumar on Tuesday granted bail to Shamsheera, an accused in a case relating to securing a job in the Revenue Department by producing a forged advice memo.
