Mikkilineni Radha Krishna Murthy is no more

Mikkilineni Radha Krishna Murthy

VIJAYAWADA: Veteran actor and founder of Praja Natya Mandali, Mikkilineni Radha Krishna Murthy, passed away after suffering from urinary tract here on Tuesday morning.

He was 96.

Born in Kolavennu village on July 7, 1914, Murthy acted in near 150 films with N.T. Rama Rao and in almost all the Vitalacharaya movies.

Starting with the freedom movement, Murthy played a lead role in the Congress, Leftist, Library, progressive writers and Atheist movements of Andhra Pradesh.

Beginning his film career in Telugu film, Deeksha, directed by K.S. Prakash Rao in 1949, the Balakrishna-starrer Bhairava Dweepam was his last film.

‘Kalaprapoorna'

Having woven every conceivable award of the film and theatre fields the Andhra University conferred upon him the Kalaprapoorna title.

Murthy has one son and two daughters. Before entering into a career in theatre and cinema, he did diploma in veterinary science.

His son also studied veterinary science and has settled down in Krishna district as a doctor.
