THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The final session of the 12 {+t} {+h} Kerala Assembly had a tumultuous end on Friday with Opposition and treasury bench members engaging in a shouting match and the former staging a noisy walkout in the House minutes before the curtain came down on what turned out to be a game-changing session of the Assembly. With the Opposition members occupying the well of the House shouting slogans against the government and Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan, the zero hour lasted barely 35 minutes. UDF members trooped into the well of the House when Speaker K. Radhakrishnan rejected their notice seeking leave for moving an adjournment motion on what they termed attempts by the Chief Minister to block a CBI investigation into the lottery scam and to influence the K. Mohan Kumar Commission which had inquired into the Kalluvathukkal liquor tragedy. The ruling alliance members also began converging near the front row of the treasury benches and engaging their Opposition counterparts. As the Opposition MLAs raised a din, the Speaker proceeded with the adoption of the Kerala Finance Bill in two minutes and the Plachimada Coca Cola Victims' Relief and Compensation Claims Special Tribunal Bill 2011 in five minutes. The Opposition members soon moved out of the House and staged a sit-in near the statue of the Father of the Nation at the entrance. After the House dispersed, the ruling front members, including Ministers, staged a march from the House to the Martyrs' Column nearby.
