Parking meters commissioned

CHENNAI: The Chennai Corporation on Thursday began commissioning 39 parking meters on nine roads, which will help to regulate parking space for 800 cars. All the facilities will become operational in a fortnight.

Inaugurating one of the facilities in Anna Nagar III Avenue, Mayor M.Subramanian said “Work to install more parking meters in other locations to regulate parking space for 3,372 cars will begin shortly.”The facilities where parking meters are being installed include those in Shanthi Colony, Anna Nagar Second Avenue, Purasawalkam High Road, General Patters Road, Pondy Bazar, Sardar Patel Road and Whites Road. The installation cost of a parking meter is Rs.5 lakh.
