Kozhikode: The ‘Santwana Vanam' project undertaken by the Forest Department for the Institute of Palliative Medicine (IPM) on its nine-acre campus at the Medical College will be dedicated to the IPM by Forest Minister Benoy Viswom on Saturday. At a press conference here on Thursday, Chief Conservator of Forests D.K. Verma, Conservator of Forests K.V. Subrahmanyan and Director of IPM Suresh Kumar said the first phase of the project was completed and work on the second phase was progressing. The project included a 500-metre pathway amidst the trees for patients to move on wheelchairs and see around, a garden and an artificial stream among other things. Two acres in the nine-acre compound is being utilised for setting up the Santwana Vanam. The project is aimed at bringing relief to hundreds of patients suffering from chronic diseases by providing them with a soothing ambience of unpolluted nature apart from administering medicines to them.
