ARIYALUR: The District Collector, T. K. Ponnusamy inspected the works of the construction of houses in the Periyar memorial Samathuvapuram coming up in Thathanoor panchayat on Thursday.
Inspecting the quality of all the materials used for the construction of the houses, the Collector directed the officials to ensure that toilets are built and asked them to complete the work as per schedule.
He also inspected the construction work of the weekly shandy premises at a cost of Rs. 15 lakh in Thathanoor. He said that the weekly shandy will function on all Mondays from February 28.
He directed the officials to inform the functioning of the weekly shandy in the nearby villages. Later, the Collector inspected the sites identified for the construction of houses in the second phase of the concrete housing scheme. When the locals complained about the health hazard caused due to the non availability of a drainage channel, the Collector directed the officials to create this facility immediately.
J. Bella, project officer, District Rural Development Agency, and other officials accompanied the Collector.
