BANGALORE: President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee G. Parameshwara has welcomed the Railway Budget. Dr. Parameshwara said that the Bangalore-Mysore express, new trains between Bangalore-Mysore-Hassan, Bangalore-Bijapur, Bangalore-Bangarpet and Tumkur-Chamarajanagar and running the Yeshwantpur-Mangalore express up to Karwar would increase connectivity across the State. Similarly, he said the railway training centre at Dharwad, permission to a new coach factory at Kolar with private partnership, satellite railway facility around Bangalore, permission to upgrade Bangalore City Railway Station to international level and constructing railway rest rooms would provide more employment opportunities to the people in the State and facilities to railway commuters. Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Siddaramaiah Siddaramaiah said that not many projects were sanctioned for Karnataka. He then criticised the State Government's lethargic attitude in acquiring land for the railway projects which had been approved by the Railway Ministry.
