SANGAREDDY: For the first time in the recent agitations for Telangana, two lecturers were arrested for getting involved in arson on Saturday. This even surprised the police. The police of Medak arrested five persons related to bus burning incident that took place at Lakshmapur village between Ramayampet and Medak road on February 24. Cases of attempt to murder (under Section 307) and destruction of public property (under Section 2 and 3) were registered against them. According to Superintendent of Police A. Sunder Kumar Das, the arrested were N. Sanjeeva Reddy (economics lecturer at a private college in Ramayampet), P. Devender (English lecture in another private college at Ramayampet), A. Ramesh, Kumara Swamy, K. Subhash and A. Sanjeeva Reddy. It was alleged that these people had poured kerosene on the bus that was at night halt. Arrests protested Protesting the arrests, the locals staged a rasta-roko for two hours and forced the shops to close their shutters.
