HYDERABAD: The A.P. Government Colleges Contract Lecturers Association has decided to boycott the Intermediate examinations starting from March 7 demanding implementation of time-scale for the 9,000-odd lecturers as promised earlier. The association general secretary, K. Suresh, said that they will go on strike from March 2 and later boycott the examinations. He said the Intermediate exams cannot be conducted without them as the Government lecturers are around 2,500 while their number was 9,105 and added that they have also decided to boycott spot valuation. He said that government gave a written assurance on December 14, 2010 that they would be given minimum scale but it failed to keep its promise. “We are working for a paltry sum of Rs. 7,000 per month,” he said adding that contract lecturers did not get even a penny when the government decided to increase the minimum salaries to employees in nine categories in the month of January.
