Kalam inaugurates biotechnology meet

RANCHI: The former President of India, A.P.J Abdul Kalam, on Friday inaugurated a one-day national conference on ‘Biotechnology and National Development: achievement and challenges' here.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda graced the occasion, and the vice-chancellor of the Central University Jharkhand (CUJ), D.T. Khating, addressed the opening ceremony.

Book released

During the inaugural ceremony, Mr. Kalam released a book dedicated to Professor A.B Prasad.

The conference aims at creating a strong platform for research and development to achieve technological excellence in existing and next-generation devices and communication systems.

After the opening ceremony, students discussed various issues related to infectious diseases, cancer biology and biotechnology.

Eminent professors discussed various challenges in medical biotechnology.

The CUJ started in 2009 on its temporary campus at Brambe, 25 km from Ranchi.
