KOCHI: Minister for Industries Elamaram Karim has said that the Left Democratic Front government has been able to implement several new programmes in the education sector. In his inaugural address at the national conference on ‘information, communication, and intelligent systems' held at the KMEA Engineering College at Edathala near Aluva on Friday, Mr. Karim said the government could ensure merit and social justice in the professional education sector. Stating that the youth in the State should be provided new opportunities, the Minister said the young talents would migrate to other States and countries if they did not find adequate openings in the job sector here. Mr. Karim said the government was also successful in providing jobs to youngsters in various fields. V.K. Ibrahim Kunju, MLA, presided over the inaugural meeting. C.I. Abdul Rahiman, director of the KMEA Engineering College; K.B. Jhaldiyal, governing council member of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE); B. Parameswaran, chairman of IETE Kochi centre; and M.V. Rajesh, secretary spoke. Scientists, academicians and students participated in the programme and shared their experience and research findings on various aspects of information, communication, and intelligent systems. An exhibition by Indian Space Research Organisation was also organised.
