Minister inaugurates treatment plant at Vallicaud Nod for Rs.20-crore project to boost water supply PATHANAMTHITTA: The government has sanctioned a project estimated at Rs.36 crore for repair and maintenance of all the pump-houses and motors of various drinking water supply schemes in the State as part of an initiative to streamline drinking water supply across the State, Water Resources Minister N.K. Premanchandran has said. He was inaugurating a treatment plant attached to the Vallicaud-Kodumon-Angadickal drinking water supply scheme at Vallicaud, near here, on Saturday. He said the State Cabinet has accorded special clearance a week ago for a Rs.20-crore project to strengthen the drinking water supply system in the State to tide over the drinking water scarcity during the summer months. K. Sivadasan Nair, MLA, presided over the meeting. Anto Antony, MP, and Adoor Prakash, MLA, delivered the keynote speeches. Babu George, president of district panchayat; Leela Rajan, president of Konni block panchayat; Robin Peter, member of district panchayat; and G. Maya, president of grama panchayat; also spoke.
