Kochi: The Thrissur-based Kalyan Silks, a leading player in the retail textiles segment in the State, is all set for a foray into international markets, T.S. Pattabhiraman, chairman and managing director of the group, has said. He was addressing a press conference here recently on the occasion of unveiling of the new logo of Kalyan Silks and to announce the appointment of film actor Prithviraj as the new brand ambassador of the group. Mr. Pattabhiraman said the expansion plans would be powered by a capital investment of Rs.500 crore in the coming years. New looms Introduction of new looms at Kanchipuram and Banaras and opening of India's first premium class boutique at the Kochi showroom were in the offing. The year 2012 would witness Kalyan Silks' foray into the international market. Showrooms would be opened in Dubai, Sri Lanka, Singapore and Malaysia in the first phase, he said. “The new logo embodies the spirit of youth and the values of our legacy at once,” he said. The group has showrooms at Thrissur, Kochi, Palakkad and Kozhikode. By the third week of March, Kalyan Silks' Kannur showroom will become operational. Showroom In May, Kalyan Silks will rededicate the renovated Palace Road showroom to its hometown after adding another 30,000 sq ft of shopping space. The new corporate office-cum-wholesale showroom will be inaugurated in Thrissur in late May. By the end of this year, Kalyan Silks will add three more showrooms to its portfolio by opening outlets in Kottayam, Thiruvananthapuram and Thiruvalla, the chairman and managing director said.
