Directive to Home Secretary

MADURAI: The Madras High Court Bench here on Tuesday directed the Home Secretary to take a final decision on providing telephone facility to prisoners, in accordance with the provisions of a Model Prison Manual devised by the Bureau of Police Research and Development, within six months. A Division Bench, comprising Justices N. Paul Vasanthakumar and R. Subbiah, passed the direction while disposing of a public interest litigation petition filed by K. Kesavan, a human rights activist here.
