Student attempts suicide

VANIYAMBADI: A 19-year-old student of a private engineering college attempted suicide by consuming poison on Thursday.

According to Vaniyambadi taluk police, the youth, who was a first year student at the college and staying at a hostel, tried to end his life as he had failed in four subjects.

The result of the examination was published on Wednesday. He had consumed poison at the hostel and gone to college, where his professor found out his condition.

The youth is undergoing treatment at Vaniyambadi Government Hospital, police said.
