HYDERABAD: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials caught red-handed P. Seetharama Murthy, a senior auditor in the District Audit Office at Vizianagaram, while he was accepting a bribe of Rs. 3,000 from a complainant seeking an official favour on Thursday. The official demanded the bribe for preparing the pension orders of the complainant's husband, getting it signed by the district officer and forwarding it to the Municipal Commission of Bobbili. The tainted amount was recovered from the keyboard drawer of the auditor. The official was arrested and would be produced before the special judge for ACB cases at Visakhapatnam, a press release by the ACB said. Convicted In another case, the special judge for ACB cases at Visakhapatnam convicted S. Ramani Bharathi Kumari, formerly the civil assistant surgeon of the community health centre at Pathapatnam in Srikakulam district, in a bribery case of 2005 and sentenced her to one year simple imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 10,000 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The doctor was trapped by the ACB on November 22, 2005 when she demanded and accepted Rs. 2,500 as bribe from a complainant for removing sutures of the latter's daughter who had undergone Caesarean operation.
