VISAKHAPATNAM: A complaint has been lodged with the Election Commission and Chief Electoral Officer charging Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy with violating the election code of conduct by launching the first phase of Carbon Black Project at Pudi village in Visakhapatnam district amidst elaborate fanfare from Hyderabad. The Forum for Better Visakha (FBV) which lodged the complaint, said the code had been notified in the State in connection with the elections to the Legislative Council but despite that the Chief Minister announced the benefits likely to be accrued by the project to the people of Visakhapatnam area. The function was attended by Union Minister for HRD D. Purandeswari and some legislators from Visakhapatnam in addition to other government functionaries. Their announcements had the effect of influencing the process of election in violation of the Election Code, opined the FBV convener E.A.S. Sarma. No PCB consent The FBV further pointed out that that the AP Pollution Control Board was yet to issue Consent for Establishment (CFE) for the project.
