NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation has unearthed a recruitment scam in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and arrested two senior medical officers and a cousin of one of them for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe to declare a candidate medically fit. A CBI team arrested Dr. M.P. Gaur and his cousin Tej Prakash from 83 Battalion, CRPF, Lalwas, Jaipur, and Dr. S.K. Singh from the group centre, CRPF, Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000, an official spokesperson said. The Special CBI Court in Pune remanded them in police custody till Friday. On March 1, a candidate who passed the examination conducted by the Staff Selection Commission for recruitment to the post of sub-inspector in the Central police organisations lodged a complaint with the CBI's Pune branch. He alleged that the two medical officers camping at the group centre at Talegaon, Pune, were demanding Rs.15,000 to declare candidates fit. They demanded a bribe when he appeared before them for a medical examination on February 22. The doctors, camping at the CRPF centre since February 15 for examining the candidates, settled for Rs.10,000, it was alleged. Dr. Gaur, who is a senior medical officer of the CRPF based in Jaipur, was allegedly in constant touch with the complainant, sources said.
