Devanand nets winner for EBRC

Coimbatore: Devanand struck in the fourth minute as EB Recreation Club scored a solitary goal win over Sree Narayana Guru College in the CDFA first division football league here on Friday. Earlier, Venu Football Club scored a 4-2 win over Young Hunters Football Club.

The results: EBRC 1 (Devanand 4) bt Sree Narayana Guru College 0; Venu FC 4 (Saravanan 14, Jayaprakash 64, Jai Ganesh 70, Vincent Rajamanickam 80) bt Young Hunters FC 2 (Akil Raj 40, Vasu 43) .

Hariharan, Akarshika top table

R. Hariharan of Veveaham HSS (Dharapuram) and J. Akarshika of Vidya Niketan (Coimbatore) emerged the under-15 boys' and girls' champions respectively, in the inter-school chess tournament for the Sarojini Devi Memorial Rolling Trophy, organised by the Vishy Anand Chess Academy, Shaanthi MHSS in Pollachi recently.

Easy for NKCC

At Namakkal, NKCC posted a 53-run win over SPB Sports Club (Pallipalayam) in the TNCA-DCAN first division league at the SPB Colony grounds recently.

The scores: NKCC (Namakkal) 188 for nine in 40 overs (G. Venkatesh 62, V. Suresh three for 26) bt SPB SC (Pallipalayam) 135 in 33.3 overs (K.V. Basker three for 16, B. Jayakumar three for 19) .

It's BACAS vs. United

Mani Raj chipped in 17 points as Bishop Appasamy College of Arts and Science (BACAS) defeated a fighting Bharath Basketball Club 62-53 and entered the men's final of the Orion Trophy basketball tournament on Friday.

BACAS will now take on United Basketball Club, which scored a 41-22 win over Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu.
