VILLUPURAM: A woman was killed and 11 others were injured when a lorry hit a bullock cart on which they were travelling at Asokapuri near here on Sunday night.
M. Jayapriya (30) of Anguchettipalayam and the two bullocks yoked to the cart were killed on the spot. While three of the injured were referred to the JIPMER Hospital at Puducherry, others were admitted to the Mundiampakkam government hospital.
Police sources said that the residents of Anguchettipalayam, Salamedu and Orukodi had engaged the cart to go to Melmalaiyanur to participate in the Angala Parameswari Amman Temple festivities.
The police have booked a case.
