GULBARGA: B.S. Sachidananda Murthy, general secretary of the All-Karnataka State Government Employees' Federation, has said that the pay committee constituted by the Government has many disadvantages. A pay commission would have been far more advantageous, he claimed. Addressing presspersons here on Sunday, Mr. Murthy said the experiences with pay committees constituted in 1990 and 1998 had been bitter. Mr. Murthy said the federation had been steadfast in its demand for a pay commission for State government employees. After Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa announced the constitution of the pay committee in the 2011-12 budget, the federation sought revocation of the decision and demanded a pay commission instead, Mr. Murthy said. He, however, said the federation was persuaded by the Chief Minister to change its stance. Mr. Murthy said the Chief Minister had assured the federation that the pay committee would be asked to finalise its recommendations in three months.
