DINDIGUL: The 10-day Panguni Uthiram festival will commence at Sri Dhandayuthapaniswamy Temple on Sunday. The holy car festival will take place on March 19. Offering holy water collected from the Cauvery at Kodumudi to Lord Palani Andavar for abishekam is the special feature of the festival. Flag hoisting will take place at 10.15 a.m. in Thiru Avinankudi Temple, on the foothills of Palani on March 13. The Lord Muthukumaraswamy and goddesses Sri Valli and Sri Deivanai will reach Thiru Avinankudi temple from Sri Periayanayaki Amman Temple in the morning. Holy thread (Kaapu) will be tied to Sri Murugan, goddesses, parivaramurthies, Lord Ganapathy and warriors of the Lord on the hill temple in the afternoon. Celestial wedding will take place in the evening of March 18 and holy car procession will start at Sri Padhavinayagar Temple near hill temple at 4 p.m. on March 19, the Panguni Uthiram day. The procession will go around four giri veedhis. Cracker festival will take place on March 20. The temple administration have organised cultural programmes at Kudamuzhukku Mandapam on all festival days. The temple administration has made arrangements to receive large number of pilgrims for the festival. Kavadi is the speciality of the festival.
