Tiruchi posts two wins

TIRUCHI: Tiruchi registered two victories on the opening day of the SDAT-UTDH regional-level hockey league tournament here on Wednesday.

The results: Tiruchi bt Thanjavur 2-0; Ariyalur bt Tiruvarur 12-0; Perambalur bt Pudukottai 7-1; Tiruchi bt Ariyalur 5-0; Thanjavur bt Tiruvarur 11-0 .

Arul hits century

S. Arul struck a century as Young CC defeated Marthandam CC by 141 runs in the TNCA – Kanyakumari DCA first division cricket league.

The scores: I div.: Young 245 in 37.2 overs (S. Arul 109, A. Sundar 32, Bajan five for 54) bt Marthandam 104 in 23.3 overs (Venugopal four for 31, Ramesh three for 21).

Marthandam CC 162 in 33.2 overs (Vijayanand 34) bt Packer Colts CC 160 in 36.3 overs (C. Rajeev Kumar 32).

Vantage 148 in 32.3 overs (Sheriff three for six, Aji three for 23) lost to Packer Colts 152 for two in 17.2 overs (J. Babin Christo 105 n.o.).

Young 200 in 36.3 overs (R. Isravel 63, Sheriff four for 26) bt Packer Colts 103 in 32.5 overs (Suresh 37, Ramesh five for 19, Arul three for 19).

Sunny Colts 114 in 19.4 overs (R. Praveen Kumar four for 47) bt Vantage 78 in 25.3 overs.

II div.: Kumari 78 in 22.1 overs (A. Iyyappan 32, M. Sivakumar three for five, A. Sureshkanth three for 11) lost to Commando 82 for three in 8.5 overs.

Eagle 110 for nine in 25 overs (K. Haneef 50, A. Xavier Rupesh four for 22) lost to Kings 114 for six in 22.2 overs.
