Book festival in Kottayam from today

KOTTAYAM: The District Library Council (DLC) will organise a book festival at the Sports Council grounds here from March 10 to 16.

The event will be inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajan Gurukkal on Thursday. Commemorative programmes will be held as part of the fair.

The birth centenary celebrations of noted Malayalam writer Ponkunnam Varkey will be inaugurated by V.N. Vasavan, MLA,. on March 12.

Kerala Sahitya Pravarthaka Cooperative Society (SPCS) president Ezhacheri Ramachandran will inaugurate the Changampuzha Krishna Pillai – Vyloppilli Sreedhara Menon Centenary meet on March 14.

Another highlight of the book fair is the seminar on ‘E-Malayalam' that will be inaugurated by former Kerala University Vice-Chancellor Dr. B. Iqbal.

Council secretary K. R. Chandramohanan said nearly 50 publishers are expected to participate in the fete.
