Yeddyurappa denies charges levelled by Kumaraswamy
Staff Reporter
Bangalore: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Wednesday denied allegations of the former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy that a trust being run by family members of Mr. Yeddyurappa had been favoured by certain mining companies indulging in illegal mining.
‘Far from truth'
Speaking to presspersons after replying to debate in the State Legislature on the State budget, Mr. Yeddyurappa said that allegations levelled by Mr. Kumaraswamy were far from truth.
The Chief Minister said anybody could make donations to the trust as they would get Income Tax benefits under Section 80 C of the Income Tax Act.
There was no mala fide interest or any irregularities in getting donations for this particular trust as alleged by Mr. Kumaraswamy, Mr. Yeddyurappa said.
The trust as well as the education institutions being run by the trust had eminent academic personalities. Mr. Kumaraswamy had the habit of levelling false allegations without cross-checking the facts, Mr. Yeddyurappa alleged.
For Delhi
Meanwhile, Mr. Yeddyurappa is visiting Delhi on Thursday where he is expected to meet Bharatiya Janata Party central leaders.
