Social activists stage protest

Kolhapur: Chief Officer Vinayak Vathare and other employees of the Vadagaon municipality in Kolhapur district were locked inside their office on Thursday by social activists and members of the youth wing of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in protest against cancelation of the extended meeting of “Lokshahi Din”, which is compulsory as per the directives of the State Government to redress public grievances.

The scheduled meeting on third of every month in presence of an officer deputed by the collector was extended and even on the extended date on Thursday, the officer deputed by the collector was not present.

Hence, complaints and the social activists staged a protest and locked the official and other employees of the municipality inside their office.
