KRISHNAGIRI: The flying squads formed in view of the Assembly elections in Krishnagiri district recovered over Rs. 7 lakh from different places in the past two days.
Revenue Divisional Officer A. Noor Mohamed told The Hindu on Friday Rs. 3.25 lakh cash was recovered from a person at Veppanahalli check-post bordering Andhra Pradesh and was handed over to the Income Tax department for further inquiry.
The amount was recovered from Mr. Thouheed, hailing from Bangarpet in Andhra Pradesh while he was crossing over to Tamil Nadu.
In another incident, Rs. 2.37 lakh was seized from a businessman at the toll gate by the Central Industrial Security Force personnel from a car with Karnataka registration number. Mr. Samsudeen of Electronic City in Bangalore was driving the car.
Genuine
The amount was handed over to the man after verifying the documents he had produced and the reason was found to be genuine.
A sum of Rs. 2 lakh cash was recovered from M. Sivaraj near the Samundeeswari Marriage Hall by the officials. The amount would be handed over to the Income Tax department for verification.
The district administration along with the police have intensified vehicle checks.
