Sandalwood logs seized, youth held
Staff Reporter
Tirupur: Forest Department officials seized sandalwood logs and a car near Udumalpet on Friday.
Forest Ranger V.A. Saravanan said that P. Parthasarathy (20), a native of Meenakshipuram in Kerala, was arrested while loading the logs into his car at Parayankadu. On interrogation, Parthasarathy, studying in a private polytechnic college near Pollachi, revealed that the sandalwood was cut from the Kulipatti area of Anamalai Tiger Reserve.
The officials said that he was a middleman for sandalwood traders at Mannarkad in Kerala. He has been remanded to judicial custody.
