DYFI members stage demonstration

Staff Reporter

Tirupur: Members of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) staged a demonstration here on Friday in protest against the alleged attack on DYFI district secretary by the police when he led an agitation against excess levy of fees in a private school here two days ago.

Activist beaten up

The agitators said that beating up of activists, who take part in agitations staged in democratic manner, was condemnable.

They also asked the authorities concerned to take action against the private schools that were found to be charging fees above the amount fixed by the State government.

CPI (M) State secretariat member K. Thangavel, DYFI State committee member C. Nandagopal and CITU district vice-president K. Ponnusamy, among others, spoke.
